He is NOT supposed to get on the back of the couch! Imagine how happy he was when I grabbed the camera and didn't shoo him off!!! LOL
This is how the idea of getting away with murder starts : )
I think I finally figured this out. Of course it's January 31st, but it isn't midnight yet. Here are my photos..

Photo 1 at F32...clear view of background - can see clearly outside the window.

Photo 2 at F10...can see a little outside the window but not very clear.

Photo 3 at F5...background unclear

You did it!
I know...I can't really believe it myself.
Good Job!!!!
OK this is my LAST try with aperture on this assignment. I tried outside again and am still disappointed with my results because I thought it would be a more dramatic one. I used the extremes that my lens would go. Auto ISO = 100. Focal Distance 18mm; automatic shutter speed of 1/160
f22:

f3.8:

You can definitely see a difference in the grass to Ned's right side. At f/22, it's in focus, but at f/3.8, it's blurred.
Yes, right where the sunlight hits the foliage you can definitely see a difference.
There's that cute Little Ned. Grab those cheeks of his and give him a big kiss from me and Gracie Doodle! Oh...I can see the difference in the background. Good work!
Finally here are my Jan photos. I really could have choosen a better setting to show the depth of field, but this is what I have for today!
Lazy Dakota at f4
