Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
I have been practicing on getting a good photo with background bokeh lights. Of course, one thing to practice on is not enough for me and I had to add into the mix candy canes (blog to follow), hanging ornaments, beds, balls, and dogs. It has not been going smoothly and today I handed my new camera back to John and said, "keep it." My dramatic outburst is over and I decided to post a discussion where we can add similar shots, discuss techniques, camera settings, and give critiques.
Here is the best of what I have gotten so far and I know I have a long way to go. I have taken equal number of Fudge and Vern, but have been less successful with Fudge. They have been great models.
I will continue to update with pictures as I get the hang of things.

Love these. Laurie! I've missed seeing your photos the past few weeks. My favorites are the first one of Vern and the last one of Fudge.
Thanks, DJ. I have had nothing to show :)
That's very hard to believe! Are you using the new camera?
Yes I am...see my explanation to Sandy :) LOL
Sandy, Mainly, I am impatient and soon to be an inpatient :) I am doing too much without reading what I am doing. John got me a book for Christmas that reads like a wordy textbook to me and I just ordered a simpler one and that is going to help. Instead of taking simple shots, I decided to use a tripod for the first time, hang ornaments all over the place, try to get bokeh shots, and figure out harsh lighting versus diffused lighting. I love the new camera and I'm going to take simpler shots this week and read more. Thank you!! Are you enjoying the new camera?
No, I did not. Thank you!!
Hi Sandy and Laurie. When I got my new Nikon, I went to Ken Rockwell's site and followed most of his suggestions for setting up my camera. For the most part, I am pleased with his recommendations. I agree that it's definitely worth your time to see what he has to say for your specific model.
Thank you, Laurie! I appreciate the suggestion and will check it all out.
Thanks, Sandy. I ordered a book and have been doing a lot of practicing. I read Ken Rockwell's reviews a lot before buying something.
Thanks, Linda!
Fabulous Laurie! My fav is #8 of Fudge <3
