I got a Flip Video Camera for Christmas. It's small so I can keep it with me all the time, unlike my other video camera. I have noticed that the movie editing software is not as sophisticated as my Apple IMOVIE software which is what I have been using. Does anyone know if it is possible to import the Flip footage into IMOVIE? I've been playing with it but haven't figured it out. Maybe it just can't be done.
Hi Jane,
Yes, you can easily import a video from your Flip camera into iMovie.
Open iMovie... go to FILE... then IMPORT MOVIES.
On your hard drive you'll click MEDIA... MOVIES...VIDEOS and then find the video you want to import (see below. (The image is kind of small but it might help you navigate to where you need to go.)
I just did a quick one to test it out and make sure it works. I didn't create a movie title, but I muted the audio and added music and then posted it on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiEWUMrcTRg
I Movie is a product that comes with a Mac. It runs on either the laptop or the PC devices, so if you have an Mac it will work. Other brands of PCs have different movie editing software. The reason I like I Movie better than the software that comes with the Flip is there are more options to edit your movies, e.g. easy clip cutting, transitions between clips, voiceover.
