My in-laws have the cutest little hummingbirds that live in their backyard. I took my camera outside this week and snapped a few shots.

Linda these are all great but that fourth one is special, what a great viewpoint.
Thanks, Donna. These little fellas dart around sooooo fast, it's really hard for the auto focus to lock in on them. #4 was a totally "lucky" shot!
Beautiful! Last year, we had a tiny hummingbird nest in a tree in our front yard. I really wanted to get photos of mom anr babies when they hatched but I also didn't want to be intrusive. We left tow for the weekend. We returned to finds that a rain storm had washed the nest away . . . so sad . . .
Thank you, Diane, - and aw, that story breaks my heart! :(
All beautiful LInda........Just love that first photo....of that little "jewel" of a bird!
This is special.  Just Fantastic.
OMD. I love hummingbirds but I rarely see them in my garden. These are fabulous pictures with such clarity and color. I do believe you have made my day. Once when I was in Costa Rica, we were at a place with many, many hummingbird feeders and you could stand there and listen to the hummingbirds zoom by you. They cam in all sizes and colors. But your in laws have quite the variety too.

Thank you, everyone. Those little red "jewels" on their neck and head sparkle really pretty in the sunlight.

I love the sound they make, too, F! Especially the little "clicking" sound they make when they talk to you, and the way you can hear the vibration of their wings when they fly close by.

I've never hear the clicking, maybe someday. But the whrrrr of the wings, lovely.

Awesome!
All wonderful, but number four is prizewinning.
Beautiful shots, Linda. We have hummingbirds, but the only thing I can do is enjoy them as they flit by.  I could never get shots like yours.  I am in awe!
