OK--Mandy has done an awsome job on our monthly photo assignments but she needs a temp reprieve during her busy photography season! So, I volunteered to come up with a May assignment. I will post one by tommorrow evening BUT I would like to hear some suggestions from you about areas you would like to concentrate on. Think about it and post ideas please!!!

One topic that might be interesting to cover is "cropping." It can make an ordinary photo quite extraordinary.
I thought we already did cropping or it came up during one of our assignments and so we did it. We posted quite a few before and afters to show the difference and the suggestion was made on some of the photos posted to try cropping them. I don't think it started out as a monthly assignment but I know we ended up adding it.
My favorite assignments are those that deal with composition. It helps us be more discerning in taking or cropping and it can be done by any camera. But I just saw Linda's suggestion and think that is a great idea.
i have no idea how we'd do it but I loved Adina's silhouette photo.
Me too! This would be really fun. Would it be possible to do both...cropping and the silhouettes?
Why not? Since I don't know how to attempt a silhouette, I may have to crop the entire picture!
Is this what you mean by silhouettes? I took this picture with the sun, not behind me, but in front.

Or do you mean Side View in just black?

This is Dora. She monitors how much time I spend on the computer. She also monitors those squirrels in the garden.
Dora looks like a beautiful silhouette to me. tell Dora she needs to allow you more computer time. Cats were high on the allergy list but I didn't need a test to tell me that. Achoo!
Nice silhouette of Dora, Joanne! :)
I like assignments that go like this: "Take a photo of ____" where ___ is a difficult thing to take a photo of such as "black dog" or "doodles in action" (which we've done already) or "close-up capturing the quality of your doodle's coat"

Or self portraits or a purposely set up 'studio shot' where you try to set up a 'stage' of sorts in your home with backdrop and props and doodle =)

None of my ideas involve photog terms as I don't know them and perhaps the pros here can reword them to be more appropriate =)
