ever wonder what goes bump in the night? At the lake house, Dakota has a doggie door that opens to our deck and his doggie run. Generally around midnight he goes tearing onto the deck after "something". We bought a trail camera on sale -- it's not a high end camera at all but it has a motion detector that activates the camera and flash. We set it up for a two night test and we had a blast with the results. (We had a dish of peanut butter on the deck for the squirrels and jays to enjoy . . . This is what our camera saw -- and what Dakota slept through!!

Oh, wow! That's crazy. And how pretty!

Love your fox. Ours are usually red right around here. Great idea with the motion detector, it didn't seem to bother your visitor at all.

OMD, I'm so surprised Dakota slept through this!

Wow!    I'm impressed with that very bushy tail!!!    He/she certainly looks "at home" there on your deck!

So Cool!!!

Oh wow.  What a great idea!

Wow, how cool is that!?

Great photographs,    I used to see Red and Silver Fox when I drove nights. You can always tell if it is a fox because when they run out in front of your headlights,  the tail will stick straight out,  What type of Fox is this?  It is not like the ones we have here.  A Grey Fox?

So glad he slept through this.  They are beautiful but ... very dangerous to a dog.

This is a grey fox--we have red foxes there also. I'm really not at all concerned about Dakota and the fox. Grey foxes weigh between 10 and 15 pounds to Dakota's 80 pounds. Plus, they have to climb through the rails on a totally enclosed deck so they are on guard and ready to bolt anyway.

Sadly, last year our next door neighbors Australian Shepard cornered and then killed a fox in their yard. Teddy, the Aussie, worries me. He bit his owner when he was a pup and has had many other aggression issues--I think he is basically a good dog but needs special handling. My neighbot lost his wife just over a year ago and has since become involved with a lady that "claims" to love dogs and other critters but she doesn't demonstrate it--After being a house doggie for 5 years, when Jerry took up with this new lady, Teddy was sent into the garage at night and when they are gone. I wish they would find him a loving home--he needs a stronger hand . . .

Poor Teddy, displaced from his home to the garage.

This is so sad.  I wish the man would find a new home for him. I am sure Teddy would be happier after settling in.

Wow!  This is so cool>
