Charlie is having a issue with the teeter. I want to build one for our yard. Has anyone maked there own, and if so, willing to share there plans? I found plans for a base on the net, but have concerns that it might not be be stable. Charlie weights 80 lbs. Thanks
Ann,
I will check this weekend for you. Murphy and I are going to our second trial.
One thing I have found is that all of the teeters are different. In one trial I watched, it frightened several dogs that I knew.
that had no problems before.
Anyway, I will check with people who know alot more than I do and get back with you.

My friend suggested buying the adjustable base (which she has) and adding a 2 X12 by 12ft board as the teeter. She said she got it from somewhere up north...Minnesota or Wisconsin. Ordered it online.
I do not know what it costs and I haven't done a search for it.
Murphy weighs 92 lbs so it should work for Charlie.
Let me know and I will also look for other plans if that is what you would like.

Follow this link to a page on how to build a teeter. I have yet to build one but it doesn't look that hard. Also, the board length in the instructions is not "regulation".. I've bought several items from Affordable Agility.. they have a teeter base for $75..
The other option is to get a board 12 inch wide 12 feet long board (2 inches thick)... paint a 36 inch contact zone and place one end on a table... have the dog start from the table and go down from there.. it's a great way to teach contacts.. then you can add the "teeter" part later... just a thought.. Here's a link to a young girl in Alaska and the training she does with her lab.. I love her videos!
Hi, and thanks. I ended up buy a metal base. I love the you tube of the lab. I used to live in Anchorage, Alaska and my sister in law is involed in agility. I'm going to start working on a couple of new tricks for Charlie.
