Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

We are waiting for the applications to be open for Almond Blossom's Spring litter of mini doodles.  We have a daughter with significant disabilities who is in a wheelchair.  We were considering a service dog for her through Canine Companions in Santa Rosa, but have changed our minds because we would like a smaller dog.  The mini doodle sounds perfect because it has the lovely temperament of the Golden and Labrador Retrievers who are typically used as service dogs.  We have seen the larger doodle dogs, but have yet to actually see a mini doodle.  We were hoping that someone in the San Francisco Bay Area who owns a mini doodle from Almond Doodles would be amenable to a visit.  We are in San Carlos.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Susan,
Both of my dogs are standards but they are so wonderful and would make excellent service dogs. I hope your search for the right dog for your daughter goes well. The breeders you have chosen are superb.
Thank you Bonnie. It's so nice to hear that you are happy with your two dogs. I took at peek at your page and they are adorable. Such gorgeous colors!

Thanks again,
Susan
Hi Susan.. We have Lucca who is now 2 years old and weighs 40lbs. We are also getting another pup on Nov 20th who will be approx the same size. Did you mean smaller than that? I think they have actual mini's too.
Lucca is considered a mini/medium (30-55 lbs) and most of his litter is approx the same size.
You are more than welcome to contact me to meet with us. We are in San Mateo
Hi Carla,
The Mini's are supposed to be between 18-25 pounds when full grown, so they are a bit smaller than your Lucca. Thank you for your offer to visit. I would be great since we are so close. I'll send you a separate message individually.
Thanks,
Susan
Looking forward to it
Hi Susan,

Unfortunately we do not have a mini doodle. Kia is medium size... about 40 pounds.
Sandy, your husband is the one who told me about Almond Doodles! My friend and I were having lunch in downtown San Carlos a few weeks ago and we met Kia. She is SO sweet. I went home that day and got in touch with Almond Doodles and have been so excited ever since. :-)
Hi Susan! Having an Almond Blossom Doodle, I can certainly attest to how smart and loving they are! That said, I'm going to mention another Northern California breeder for you to check into, as well. See: http://www.gabbyjackranch.org Jacque Reynolds is a member of DK and she specializes in breeding and training service dogs with sweet, loving temperaments for people with special needs. :)
Thanks Linda, for this excellent information. I really appreciate it. :-)
What a wonderful service this is! Good to know about. Thanks for posting, Linda.
Hello Susan,

We have a mini 2 year old name Pumpkin she weights in at 27 pounds. She is a litter mate of Lucca. I am going to have here train so she can be a therapy dog. She is a good girl. Pumpkin is a very sweet and a friendly dog. We are happy with her.
Almond Blossom Doodles breeders are great at testing the puppies too.

I am sure you will find the right dog for your daughter.

Take care,Katherine
That's great Katherine. Where do you live? Is there a particular agency or trainer that you are using for having Pumpkin become a therapy dog?
