Mochi had diarrhea very often when he was a puppy, and he IS still pretty much like that even now, only a bit better.
1 small spoon of ice cream, or even 5 little blueberries would trigger his tummy upset, so we're very careful of what we feed Mochi other than his own food. We also have never seen any dogs who have such sensitive stomach like Mochi.
Omni is from Katie/Micah, Mochi's from Tula/Micah, I wonder if other Micah's pups also have the same issue?
when Mochi's tummy's not doing well, we feed him chicken and rice until it gets better.
Mikol - Bode's stomach caused me a fortune the first year. It seemed like every time I turned around he had diarrhea or was throwing up. He is very sensitive and I have to really watch him so he does not eat or drink anything that is not just his food. It was so bad for a while the vet wanted me to feed him strictly canned food for sensitive stomach dogs. I have found that any standing water in a pond, lake bucket, can grow bacteria etc., and they can get giardia and various other things. He also has eaten things in our yard that I don't know about because one time he had very high colesterol levels. The vet thought he probably got a bird or mouse or something like that. So now if he gets a bad stomach I first give him a big scoop of canned pumpkin with his dry dog food. He loves it and it really seems to help. Now I don't end up at the vet every time. Also buy pet insurance if you still can. Bode has a past history now and I can no longer buy it for his stomach. Good Luck

Mochi's diarrhea usually last a few days. When it last more than that I bring his stool samples to the vet for exams. ($30, much cheaper than appointment visits) to make sure there's nothing wrong. I did that twice, and the result all came back negative, so he just had bad stomach.
He's now almost 2 and still has sensitive stomach. I guess the good way to look at it is we can't to feed him table scrapes so he won't be a fat doodle :)
Hi Mikol,
I have a three year old doodle, parents are Estee and Mars. My dog seems at times to have a delicate stomach but I blame it on the mysterious things she seems to locate to nibble on. Bella often times gets added food to her dry food, I always keep it healthy, maybe veggies, some salmon, chicken etc.... though she has a huge love for pasta and pizza!
I have noticed that at times her stool seems a bit off color and texture is not ideal. We are what we eat, so just like humans they too can have stool that can differ from day to day depending on what was eaten. Keeping things simple I am sure is the best for their tummies. Hey they are designer dogs aren't they, so they are delicate. :) Take care, Diane
This is an interesting question. It seems that a lot of our doodles have sensitive stomachs - Alma included. We rarely go to the dog park because she always drinks the water there and gets sick. I also have tried various dog foods for her and have found one where her stools stay firm. When I need a quick remedy I give her baked chicken and rice and 10 mg of pepcid ac -pumpkin worked horribly! I also give her an enzyme and probiotic tablet (Petco) in her food to help her digestive tract.
1+ on the sensitive stomach.
Echo had diarrhea for about 5 days, possibly caused by a switch in foods. The switch was prompted by loose stools while on Wellness. We tried California Natural to firm up stools, then attempted to go back to Wellness. It didn't work, so we went to Acana. I have worked on switching him from the California Natural to Acana for nearly a month. We have been on 90-10% for a week. But his stools are firm. That being said, he does get Beef Cheeks (rawhide)- I heard that this can cause diarrhea, he also has a few pork raw hide bones, Himalayan chews (a hard goat milk cheese), bully sticks (beef and turkey ones) and various high quality treats. So my point being, it might not have been the kibble my dog was getting. But as he came from Shelly's eating Iams, I thought I was doing better for him by getting him on a higher quality (human grade) kibble. I do not typically let Echo eat what I am eating. Mainly because I am eating Banquet .56 cent pot pies while he gets the good stuff.
I don't think it's the kibble. Lucca gets diarrhea when I give him bully sticks. I really limit them with the rich treats. Try mixing rice or kibble with yogurt in a kong and freeze it. That got them through at least a 1/2 hour of the Super Bowl!!! There are lots of discussions about wholesome treats in the food group. People get really creative with kongs!! I also found Busy Buddy Bouncy toys and Everlasting treats that take them awhile to get through. I don't know if these images came through
