Hi Everyone! Aspen is due next week and I have been anxiously waiting to bring home my puppy! I was hoping you could enlighten me on the puppy process after birth? Do they send pictures? When will I go pick out my pup? What to expect when I arrive? Stuff like that....Thank you so much and I wish you all a wonderful and safe weekend!
You will be scheduled to arrive on a Saturday when they are 8 weeks old. Everyone arrives in order and you pick your pup and take it home. :-) I like this because a lot of breeders make you pick at 5 or 6 weeks or choose for you. I pick my Estee pup on Nov. 20th :-)
Have they sent you any puppy pictures so far? Aspen is due this Friday!!! I'm super excited....I don't have kids but I'm treating my new puppy like my little fur baby :)
My pick up date is November 13th, but since I have to work, I will pick up Riley on the 20th. Because I have first pick, Julie and Shelly are letting me pick out my puppy on the 8th. They have been very accomodating (msp) to my schedule.
I am also curious about the process itself and would appreciate any pearls of wisdom with bringing my new puppy home.
You want a boy? I'm trying to decide on a name too....everyone tells me you have to wait to you see your pup but I want to have a couple already picked out :)
We had 5 names picked out and named Lucca on the drive home. Once you see your puppy, you will know!!! This time around no one can even agree on 2 names:)
As to choosing... you get around an hour to hang out with the pups to make your choice
Julie has been sending photos every two weeks. Our pups were 2 weeks yesterday
I don't know if I want a boy or a girl. I have been indecisive on that. I am just anxious to sit with them and see which pup picks me. I am taking my daughter along so she can help me :)
I hear that is the way to go if you have no preference on the sex. I want a girl so I don't even want to spend time with the boys because I may come home with one :) I'll probably take my mom with me to help me choose and be the photographer :)
When we picked Alma we knew we wanted a girl so we only looked at the females. We went to play with the puppies at 4 weeks and again at 6 weeks. We picked Alma at this second visit since we were first pick and we had other obligations on the actual pick date. (We took Alma home on the actual pick date - we just didn't have time that morning to spend an hour making a decision.) Shelly was very helpful since she really knew the puppies. She also had temperment testing done when they were about 6 weeks old. We took each pup aside and played with them and asked about the temperment. But I must add that my kids had already chosen Alma at first glance. She was soooo sweet and licked us all. To this day, she is still gentle with her mouth. We also tried to watch how the puppies interacted with each other - not an easy thing since they are all running everywhere. It was such a great experience. You really can't go wrong - all the puppies are wonderful. Have fun and keep me posted.
