Wow - sorry I am so late to hear about Toby. We were out of town and my E-mail was very limited. So glad that Toby is now on the mend. I don't know about the rest of you but Bode ends up in the vet at least a couple of times a month. In fact, we had a scare on the pups 1st birthday March 26th with Bode. He threw up something like a sock and then kept throwing up stomach acid. He was also lethargic and his tummy seemed very tender. We rushed him to the vet as well and they xrayed is tummy and found what looked like a blockage. They had us walk him good and luckily he was able to go to the bathroom. They xrayed him again and luckily the blockage cleared or we might have had Bode in surgery like poor Toby. My question for all of you is does your dogs eat everything like Bode does? He especially loves socks, tissues, paper, rocks, sticks etc. Thank you for the information on the pet insurance I am definitely going to look into it. Happy late Birthday to all of Bode's siblings and to all of the other March B0day litters. Bode and Jodi

Toby, you look cute with a shirt on!!! Glad to hear it's working for him. The sooner he can't scratch the speedier the healing time.

More GOOD TO KNOW info....
Between the stitches and the irritated skin from being shaved, Toby has been wigging out trying to scratch himself. The bonnet has been successful in keeping him from being able to reach his abdomin (he's figured out how to use the edge of it to scratch his leg where the IV went in - smart pup - knows how to use tools. ha!) so he's been using his back feet to scratch and scratch and scratch his sides. Now the skin on his sides are all cut up and swollen and starting to get infected because there's no hair to protect it. We ran him up to the vet again. Now he's on antibiotics and an antihistamine (with a small amount of steriod in it) to help heal the area and hopefully make him feel less itchy. Our vet suggested we put a T-shirt on him. She said to make it fairly snug against his tummy and tie it on his back. WOW! What a difference it has made! It immediately calmed him down, AND it has made it nearly impossible for him to reach his chest to scratch it because his legs get caught in the underarm areas of the shirt. :) I wish I knew to do this sooner. At least I can share it with all of you...

So very happy to hear Toby is recovering and feeling better. Very unfortunate that Toby (and all of you) had to go through this, but at least he is on the road to recovery now. Sending big hugs and doodle kisses!! Very good to know about the pepcid- definitely on my shopping list!
