Software, Filters, and Plugins

For those of you who are digital artists, what are your favorite filters (or plugins)?

Before I begin a digital painting, I always run my images through a least one or more filter plugins to bring out the details and add more color to it. One of my favorite Photoshop filter plugins is " Adjust" from Topaz Labs.  They've just released Adjust 5.0 - with 5 preset collections and over 100 adjustable presets - and it's fantastic!!! 

With Topaz Labs, once you buy a product from them, all the upgrades are FREE. The software works on both Mac and PC (Elements, CS4, CS5), and you can download a 30 free trial. (If I recall, you may not be able to save/print your work until you purchase it. That may have changed.) I just upgraded mine yesterday.  I do have to admit though that I have all of the Topaz plug-ins but still really don't quite know how to use them.  I have dabbled a bit with skin smoothing on my baby granddaughter but not much else.  I did print out all the Guides that come with it and just need to sit down some day and read them and play around.

I also just bought the Nik Software Viveza 2.  I watched the video demonstration on it and it looks amazing.  Also, my camera store told me to get it.  Now I need to learn it too.  Just so little time and I am getting fat sitting at my computer too much!  lol

Oh, yes, Portrait Professional is a great plugin - it's awesome for smoothing skin! This sneak peak video (for Topaz Adjust) will help you wrap your head around the ways you can use this powerful filter.
