Ha! My dog is a wood lover also. He gets sticks from all over the backyard and snags pieces of cutoffs from my husband's wood shop. He always seems to be munching on some kind of wood. We had a wonderful doodle named Hondo, and then got Groucho Too (his father was Groucho), so Harpo seemed like a good name for another doodle (replacement for Hondo and brother to Groucho). So I guess if we got another doodle it would be Zeppo or Chico.
Harpo was running and playing in the creek last week and a girl who was also playing in the creek started to sing him a seranade (sp?) of the old song R-A-GG-M-O-PP, Raggmopp! It fit perfectly for him with his wet, raggedy hair. So I have started calling him Raggmopp and my husband calls him Fearless Raggmopp. He truly is fearless because he loves to play with the leaf blower and the vacume cleaner. If he gets dirty or dusty here at home, my husband blows him off with the air compressor and he thinks that is such a fun game.
My favorites from your own website are Twigs (the girl could be called Miss Twiggie like the model). I also loved Cup o Joe for the brown male. From this web site, I love the name Tallullah (this particular huge yellow doodle had on a purple tutu and the owner has a great sense of humor, so it really tickled me). I like LC,s Sydney Down Under, of course for a boy ALD.
I also always like names from their ancestors, since ALD's have so many generations they can be proud of. For reds, I would look at some of the names of the nail polish OPI, like Edin-Burgundy (can't think of them off top of my head, but they have rust, brown nail colors that are clever). I get to see Sheila tomorrow after we get home from Fla. I can't wait, we"ve missed her so. John says "Melbourne" or Ayers aka Rocky.
We picked up our labradoodle on valentine's day this year and I wanted to name him Romeo. We had made a list of names prior to picking him up, but when we actually saw him in person his face just said he was a Charlie. Since he is a chocolate ALD, we named him Charlie Brown Labradoodle. My husband was thrilled that I thought of it because his middle name is Charles. I did not have the heart to tell him that I had not even thought of that when the name came to my mind.
We are considering getting a brother or sister for Charlie and all of these comments are giving me some wonderful ideas. So thanks to all of you.
