Just in case anyone hasn't seen it, here is a link to the website with the information about the ALD name change. :-)

Thank you for sharing this and I am so glad that the name has been changed. I do not see many U.S. breeders on their breeders list. Is the name change a universal name change wold-wide?
Has any of the Australian Labradoodle associations actually come out and verified this?
Same thing that I am wondering Joanie.
Until one of the associations verify this, I will still call Lan an ALD

An Australian Cobbadog has a Wheaten Terrier in its pedigree.  Since neither ALCA or ALAA allows a dog with a Wheaten Terrier in its pedigree to be registered, the Australian Cobbadog is not recognized by either association.

very interesting--and exactly what some of us thought was the reason for the change--they want to differentiate themselves from lab-poodle cross breeds and establish themselves as an "authentic" breed that is not to be confused with something that is a designer dog. Not sure that is totally accurate, but it is worth a try!

I agree with this.  There doesn't seem to be much labrador in my ALD.  Australian CobbaDog seems to fit better.

I had been corresponding with Beverley Manners after I heard about the name change. She had explained the reason for the change and the meaning of CobbaDog. Although I don't know her personally, everything she told me is right in line with everything else I've read.
I think there is a process breeders have to go through--submitting their lines, etc-- in order to be registered with the organization. And from the way it looks to me, that would apply internationally. I have been known to be wrong on occasion, though, so I will continue follow up on this. ;-)

Isn't this just for dogs that come from HER...as in a brand like Pepsi or Coke?  I think FEW If any US breeders are gonna follow suit.  This is her thing and she's done it before to try to rebrand herself and make it seem like US breeders have an 'inferior' dog or a 'faux' doodle.  The only labradoodle association that will call it CobbaDog will be the ones she founds and I don't think you'll see many US breeders joining it.

Anything coming from Beverley Manners or her family - sends a red flag to me!

Absolutely true, Adina.

I agree completely, Adina, Jane, and Patty!
