Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

Hi everyone, I am an owner of two Labs (one pure bred, one 3/4 lab 1/4 husky)--the pure bred is in my profile pic. Anyway, we are getting our first "ALD" from Manor Lake Labradoodles in WA on Sept. 4th. I think the size and color variations are the spice of life! It's like with my four daughters; they are all SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO different! I have one "red head", (who by the way is a wild-child filled with spunk, pizazz and oodles of gumption!) and 3 brunettes; some with wavy hair, some with pin-strait hair. One brunette with DARK hair, one with dirty-blond highlights throughout, and one (our baby Laila, check out my pics), who is just a puff ball of fluffy hair! She's not 13 months yet and she's had 7 haircuts! It grows so fast, I love it! I'm just as excited to lay my eyes on our ALD puppy and watch as she changes colors, size and coat textures. Of course I will admit.....My ideal would be curly-fleece with a deep, dark brown coat...... My puppy will be named "Sable", and she will be one of the four chocolates pictured, I'm not sure which one yet... Breeder will do the matching and let me know August 17th, I can't wait!!! P.S. I'd LOVE everyone's "Predictions" based on the pictures of size and color. The breeder is calling these pups "miniature", but the mom is a large mini and the dad is a small medium. Some do look curlier than others. It will be interesting to see how her coat develops.
My Archie, a 5th generation ALD from Hudson Doodles in NY, was supposed to be chocolate with a curly fleece coat and about 35 lbs. Well he is almost 50 lbs, has a curly coat like a poodle and is almost a latte color with a partially silver tail. Only his ears have remained chocolate. As a pup he looked very much like your pictures. The last picture seems to be the darkest color and straightest coat. I believe it is a crap shoot. If both sire and dam are chocolate and have fleece coats you have a better chance at a similar outcome. Archie's sire was a standard chocolate ALD and the dam was a grey curly coated medium ALD. I should have know the pups, all deep chocolate would not stay that way. But, I never had a dog before and forgot about DNA. I still love him to pieces. Audrey
I love it that there is such vairety to choose from in this "breed". The puppy you choose or chooses you will steal your heart so fast you won't care what color it turns out to be or what size it grows to be. Just from reading here on Doodle Kisses there have been many surprises but never have I read where anyone would trade the one they have for any other. Enjoy your new baby girl!
