Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

When I adopted Jackdoodle, the shelter told me that the man who relinquished him had given them the pet store "papers" from when he was purchased, but they wouldn't let me see them. I only knew that he had been purchased from a pet store in AZ.
This has been on my mind for awhile, and today I called the shelter to try to get a little more info. Here is all I could find out:
Jack was purchased from "Just Pets" in Scottsdale. I understand they have closed and relocated to Tempe. He was whelped on 11-28-04, listed as an apricot labradoodle. There was no broker or breeder's name listed (at least none I was told), but his mom's name was "Olive" and his dad's name was "Dusty". His litter number was 59708.
I know it's a long shot, but do any of you know anybody who has bought a puppy from this store? They might have a broker or breeder name on their papers that would at least give me a clue as to what suppliers the store dealt with. It doesn't have to be a doodle...the mills breed lots of mixes, and the stores usually buy from only one or two brokers, so any dog that came from this store probably came from the same place as Jack.
Or if anyone is familiar with the store and their sources, any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. Jackdoodle sure traveled far to finally come home.

Jackdoodle came from here? I never knew that! I have been in that store and it was probably in 2004. We used to got there to buy Canidae dog food for Lola because there weren't too many places selling that brand at the time. I would always look at the puppies and want to take one home! It was a small store, but the puppies looked healthy when I saw them. I know looks can be deceiving. Marlow also came from a puppy store in Scottsdale in the mall. I want to go and to the store and ask questions. If I can find out anything about Just Pets, I will let you know!
Susan, thank you so much! It's nice just to know someone is familiar with the place. He was probably purchased in late January/early February 2005.
If he was also bred in AZ, it would explain a lot about his allergies...I don't imagine there's much ragweed pollen in Scottsdale, lol. But I know they sometimes ship puppies to pet stores hundreds of miles away from the mills they come from.
Actually the pollen is bad here. The palo verde trees bloom (as they are right now) and everyone is sneezing. AZ is not good for allergies anymore as it used to be. Too many non-native plants brought in!
I was just researching on Google (while I am at work...lol) and found a veterinary office associated with Just Pets. Dr. Linda Elliot, 4902 E. Warner #14, Phoenix, AZ 85044...phone # 480-893-8423. Her Office name is Ahwatukee Commons Veterinary. She may only be associated with the last owner, which is not the woner during the time frame that Jackdoodle was there. It may be a starting point, though! I'll keep digging!
Jack's "outdoor" allergies are to ragweed, maple trees, clover, quack grass, Johnson grass, fescue grass, lambs quarters (a weed), cocklebur (another weed), corn pollen, and a certain kind of water mold. No palo verde trees, lol. Maybe I'll have to send him to you for a vacation & test it out!
Susan, I can't tell you how much I appreciate any help you can give me or anything you can find out. I thought maybe if someone knew somebody with a little mixed breed dog, it might have come from the same place.
I know it doesn't matter, because I knew he came from a puppy mill as soon as they told me he was from a pet store, and one puppy mill is as bad as the next, but I wish I could at least trace his history from one place to another so I'd know just what this poor guy has been through. I knew my last two dog's exact locations from the moment they were born to the moment they died, so this is strange for me. Thanks so much for your help.
Oh, I forgot....I do know that the puppy store in the mall where Marlow is from, got dogs from Nevada breeders...so Jack may not have been born in AZ.
