Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Our medium labradoodle, 39 lbs. started limping yesterday while playing ball. We took her to the vet today and he said she probably had a cruciate ligament tear which would require surgery. We are planning on getting a second opinion as the surger sounds like it requires lots of down time and money and the results don't sound so great. Just wondered if anyone had experience with this in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area and could recommend a good surgeon. I know we have posted this everywhere and apologize if its the fifth time you've seen it.

I did a second opinion with Dr. Gary Moody of Mobil Surgical Service when I thought Sundog might have HD. Also, my friend's dog had her elbows surgically repaired and she was very happy with her doctors. I will get that info for you when I can.
You can also try a custom fitted brace. I have a cyberfriend who had great success with that and avoided surgery. I'm not sure, but I believe the company's name was Orthopets. You can check out that option too. Here is a third-party site which has some information about Orthopets and also about knee injuries. http://dogkneeinjury.com/orthopets/
My friend used Dr Gary Yocham, Southside Animal Hospital for her dog's surgery and thought they were absolutely wonderful.
Megan had surgery on the 10th of January - she had a complete tear and is still recovering. It is hard to know how well she is doing. Sometimes she puts the foot down totally but limps - keeping her quiet is a chore. Thankfully she has readjusted to her crate really well but there have bee OOPs moments when we turn our backs and she does something dumb. She knows something is wrong and is doing her doggy best.
