We have a black doodle puppy and we are always walking in and out of the house with him. We put our kids to bed and realized that Bear was missing. We start calling for him, throwing doors open and frantically looking for him! Where is Bear? After a very long ten minutes of looking in our garage and under beds, we realized that he was sleeping inside our black rustic fireplace. He is so black that he totally blended into the fireplace and comletely unseeable in the dark. What a relief!
LOL! So true! When Thule and Rosco are in the backyard at night it takes a second to spot Rosco...but Thule becomes a black ghost until she's halfway to the house from the back of the yard. So it's always GREAT in the winter when it snows because she suddenly becomes completely visible against the white background =)
thats cute. Bella is all black but has some brown and i am lucky that she does have a little brown in her face if not i wouldnt now what to do at night.
Awww...I have another dog named Bella. Love that name. I bet those brown stripes do come in very handy!! I was thinking about investing in a reflection collar but would probably dissapear in all the fur anyway!
LOL - I have had this same problem with my black doodle. I even tried putting a bright pink collar on her but her fur covers it. I used to go out at night with a flashlight to watch her. Gotta love the black doodle though.
Our Doodle started pulling when she was about 6 months - so we switched to a harness that clips on the front of her chest....A COMPLETE DIFFERENCE! I walk Gabbi at night instead of letting her run loose in the back yard at night- because of the color problem at night. Later!
We are so worried about Cassie when we go for walks after dark (the only time our Texas summer temps are bearable), that we have a red blinking light we slip onto her collar. It not only helps assure us that we'll see her if for some reason she gets off her leash, but it helps light the way for all 3 of us!
Cooper is very hard to see at night and gives me heart failure to let him out worrying about not being able to see him! We found a bright silver reflective collar and it works great- I think we found it at Pet Smart
