Just wondering who the mothers are to everyone's pups! Ours came from Eva. Also thought it would be neat to post current ages and weights. Holly is 6 months and almost 30 lbs. I thinks she's the smallest of the group, and she also seems to have the lightest coat, huh. Anyways, thought this would be neat ;).
Cimmy was 7 months old on Nov. 19th. Her mother is Tula, owned by Teri Fann of Goldens-n-Doodles, Brentwood, Tennessee. Though bigger than Holly, Cimmy is going on 55 lbs and has been switched to adult dog food because her vet doesn't want her gaining any more weight for her height. Cimmy has had a very full, long and shaggy coat from the get go. She is relatively dark in her coat close to the skin, but quite the strawberry blonde closer to the top. Cimmy is built more like her mom with a broad muzzle and larger bones, but has a lot of poodle/Cherokee traits. The one she was doing tonight was bouncing up and down. The vertical lift offs are so funny to watch. My mom's standard poodle does the same thing, but our Golden Retrievers never did. We love our Tula/Cherokee baby!
That's interesting, our breeder had Holly on a raw diet supplemented with adult large breed dog food when we got her, she said sometimes goldendoodles have trouble digesting puppy food because of all of the protein. We kept her on the adult food, makes me wonder if that's why Holly is so small. She was 11lbs at 12 weeks and now she's 29lbs at 27 weeks. Hope Cimmy is feeling better!
That is weird. Bonnie told us to put Timbow on adult food, but our vet told us that he needed to be on puppy food, so we mixed the two. At that time we were feeding crap food (iams--gave him the worst stomach problems) and then switched to Canidae which is an all life stage food. Now he's on Fromm and is doing better than ever!! What are you feeding Holly now?
This is really interesting about the whole puppy food vs. adult food thing. I was never told, by Teri or our vet to feed Cimmy anything but puppy food. I had her on Taste of the Wild for awhile (all life stages) but she wasn't wild about it and then there was some controversy about it. Switched Cimmy to Orijen Large Breed puppy food and she did great on it and loved it. I am now switching her to the Orijen adult food and she loves that also.
I can't imagine that Holly's food would stunt her growth, maybe slow it down, but stunt it?? Cimmy is considerably smaller than the other females from last years Tula/Cherokee litter, but the Invisible Fence trainer told me that Cimmy still has quite a bit of growing to do even though she has slowed down in her growth. She said that she may grow another inch or more in height and gain another 15 lbs or so. She won't be the 80 lbs her sisters are, but still a good size. Cherokee's a good size poodle so how big is Holly's mom? If she is a smaller golden, maybe Holly is just going to be smaller. She is adorable so no worries there!
We have fed Holly Purina One (which I know isn't the best!) because that's what she was on when we got her. She hasn't had any digestion or bowel problems so we haven't switched her yet. When we come back from our trip to Colorado next week we're switching her to Nature's recipe, it's reasonably priced and gets pretty high ratings for it's ingredients. Holly's mom was sold almost immediately after we bought her, but if I remember correctly she was 55 lbs. Thanks! Timbow, Cimmy, and all of Cherokee's baby's are beautiful! Happy Thanksgiving guys!!
Did she tell you why she was selling all of her dogs? -- My vet said that adult food causes them to grow slowly (I think), so maybe it will just take her a little longer which isn't bad. I think it's great that you're switching food and am sure Holly will really love it! :) She could just end up being a small dog too! Either way she is a cutie pie! :-)
Gus and Molly's mom is Chloe, from breeder Teri Fann. They are littermates to Astro and are 7 months old. I'll have to get back to you about their weight; DH needs to do that now, because I can't pick them up very well. My guess is they are somewhere between 65 and 70 pounds.
