We had a wonderful time with Finnigan at the cottage this summer.  He loved the lake and the boat. We had no trouble getting him to jump into the boat.  He was usually ahead of us. haha.  Thank you to those who mentioned the Petsafe wireless containment system.  It was a lifesaver and worked wonderfully.  It seemed to be such a short summer in Nova Scotia and went by too fast. Here's a photo of our happy doodle.

What an adorable photo of handsome Finnegan!  Love his colouring and that chocolate nose.

It definitely was a short cool summer in Ontario too.  

The wireless fence is what we use for Gavin at the cottage, although it is rare that we put the collar on him anymore as he knows his boundaries.

I have two pups.  Finn and Charlie (an old english sheepdog).  They have both been very quick to learn their boundaries.  It was an investment I hadn't even thought about and am thankful to this forum for mentioning it.
