I think this is common in cream color dogs, Mochi's is like that too, and he's almost 2 years old.

I sometimes use small scissor to trim off the more reddish onces and he'll look much better again.

I'm interested in knowing how other doodle pawrents keep their cream color doodle face clean, thanks for bringing up this discussion!

This is very common...especially in creme colored dogs.  I have a mini golden doodle and this has happened to him.  I also have a creme colored cockapoo and it has happened to her.  I don't think it is anything health wise and it is probably just a genetic thing.  I don't think there is anything to do about it.  And also, my mini's chin hair is usually wet also.

The staining comes from eating food and the dog's saliva. If your dog had allergies and licked his feet a lot, he would have the same reddish-brown color on his feet.

Do not use any whitening agents with bleach or peroxide to try and remove the stain. The bleach "opens" the hair, making it even more porous and more easily stainable. I have tried Chris Christensen's White on White shampoo on Simon's muzzle, but it still does not get it stain free/creamy.

I think the best you can do is wipe his mouth after he eats and trim off the worst looking stained hairs with some small scissors.:-)

Hey Lynette, I just noticed there is a discussion about stained faces from Nov/Dec.  Just scroll down a couple from where your discussion is posted. Maybe some of these suggestions might be helpful. :-)
