Our PK trainer reminded me yesterday of something very important:
Scenerio:
Your puppy thinks it fantastic to run out the front door.
As you approach him/her, you get that adorable play bow and they bolt in the opposite direction.
They head closer and closer to the street as your attempt to 'catch' her.
With each step you take closer your Doodle is taking a step closer to danger.

What can you do when the sit, wait, stop, down commands are meaningless?
Teach your dog/pup that chasing YOU is a much more exciting, fun, treated game!
You can get their attention and start running in the direction of safety and they will follow.

Another trick I learned from our trainer is to always put them in a sit/stay at the door before you go out. That way they are going out on your terms. It becomes a habit and prevents that lunging.
Great idea! Stop the danger before it can happen!!!

In a perfect world! Samantha l trust. Charli - not so much if at, all especially not now. We always do that with Samantha and it works beautifully.

Charli is 13 week old puppy. We have started that with her but it cannot be trusted to work all the time so the chase game will work with her.
Thanks for the suggestion. I find it works well for me.
