Any help and experiences on invisible fences? There are too many enticements out there for this doodle-Amish buggies, schoolbusses, deer, etc. I need to keep him safe. Carolyn and Glory

Hi Carolyn,

We've had invisible fences first on our home on the 9th fairway of a golf course, and then on a home that backed to an empty lot with plenty of raccoons, deer, bunnies, etc. We had Corgis at the time. And now, in central Austin, our neighbor has an invisible fence for their Corgi, facing on a road with many people walking their dogs, cars, cyclists, etc., that is, lots of stimuli. In our experience, invisible fences are wonderful. We haven't needed an invisible in fence in Austin for our Doodle because we're out with him in the front where it's not fenced, and we've trained him to stay with us. But as smart and compliant as Doodles are, I'd imagine that they'd adapt to invisible fences beautifully.

We have one and it works great. The only problem is that it only keeps our dood in... It does not keep other dogs, cats, chickens or people out! Ours is wireless, and we have taken it on trips. Easy to move, and Angus knows the beep means the borderline. He doesn't stray.
We have an invisible fence as well and have been very happy with it. We have lots of fun things to chase in our area and it keeps both doods in the yard. The small nick is a harmless reminder to stay within their boundaries and most only need to hear the warning beep that they are getting too close. However, we had so much snow this year that the fence really didn't work because the line was more than 2 feet away from their collars, but they still stayed in the yard.
We have one too, and love it! Most of the dogs will not cross the line even if they don't have their collars on. To me, the big drawback is what others have mentioned about other animals being able to access the property.
