Groomers in Central Austin

We're looking for groomer suggestions in central/north central Austin.  We've been using Groomingdales for the past 2 years but have had some difficulty lately (coming home with mats still, not trimming up his ears and tail like we've repeatedly asked, etc.).  We have always been pleased with the service but not necessarily with the outcome.  Does anybody have any suggestions for somewhere that does a nice job with doodles?

Since I live in Colorado, I'm not much help for groomers in Austin.  But will comment that Dixie sent me instructions for grooming that I took to my groomer here and VOILA!  My Cody looks like a Labradoodle now and NOT like a poodle!  I love his look and he's a very handsome boy now.  Perhaps Dixie will post her instructions.  VERY helpful!

We have really liked taking our Peabo (not to be confused with Dixie's own Peabo) to Dirty Dog on Guadalupe.  There has been a young woman there named Casey and she has been so sweet to Peabo.  We haven't been there for a while since we live in Westlake and have been going to someone closer for convenience but I had heard she does move around to some of the other Dirty Dog shops.  At Dirty Dog you can do your own baths/grooming or you can schedule a groomer to do all of the work.  Casey is great!  Their phone is 512-453-3647.

I've had some luck with Dirty Dog too -- Matthew at S. Lamar has been great! Also, we just went to Woof Gang on S. Lamar and 12th St. and Laura Leigh and Darren did a really great job -- very detail oriented. They take dogs in by appointmet rather than drop off all day like most. I know these aren't close but have heard great things about Dirty Dog on Mesa as well. There was a girl named Serena Barton that knew Dixie at the S. Lamar location. She was a bit of an eccentric but did a wonderful job. She'd be a good one to find -- maybe Facebook? Unfortunately, I've learned over the years that groomers are hit or miss regardless. I hope this helps. There's nothing worse than a choppy doodle!
