Does your doodle huff and puff ( a fast pant ) to get your attention or let you know they are excited. My silly Lily does this to people but not to Zeke, our other doodle, or to other dogs. I think it's an invitation to play because when I do it back to her she licks, jumps around and acts goofy. It's very cute!

That's so cute Susan! My Kona does this with a little snort at the end LOL She has me snorting to start playtime with her :) She also does this in play with her best friends, it makes everyone laugh!
Daisy will snort or huff if I am walking her at night and she gets frightened - or sees her shadow and isn't quite sure what the heck is following her! She gets scared super easy! But when she is - she snuffs though her nose and sounds like a horse almost!
I'm interested to know if anyone has heard of snorting as a result of something changing in the breathing canal. I'm not sure it would apply to everyone in this discussion, since it seems more cute than distressing, but Duff's buddy Marley snorts sometimes like he has a really stuffy nose. His trainer told his parents that sometimes this is caused by something flipping over inside the breathing canal and that openning his mouth will flip it back. Sure enough, openning his mouth makes it stop. I just have second hand information about it, but he seemed to do it when he was excited.
