Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I've noticed that when my dogs meet other doodles they seem to know they are of like kind. This was very apparent at a recent Doolde Romp we attended. Lily likes to play with any and all dogs at the dog park but Zeke is more reserved and only plays with the more calm dogs. At the romp Zeke was so relaxed and wanted to play with everyone!
Also, there are several doodles where we go for obedience training. Both dogs will greet any dog but there is difference when its a doodle. They are more excited and really seek out the other doodle. I'm not sure if this is a matter of temperament or they truly do recognize someone like them.

When I tell people that Samantha is different with Doodles they look at me like I am nuts. When she meets other breeds, if they attempt to sniff her tush she jumps around literally so they are face to face. She will just not allow it. With Doddles, she allows the traditional dog greeting of the tush smelling. She knows doodles!
Neither one of mine has shown any breed specific preference or aversion...but doodles sure look cute when they are all bouncing around together at a romp. It's like a fluff fest!
oh yes, Savannah is definitely a "breedist"! While she's friendly with most dogs, she seeks out other doodles and loves them best!
At the dog park, Yankee goes for doodles first. He seems to know that they will play the same as him and he is totally comfortable. With certain other breeds, he is totally uncomfortable.
absolutely they know "their own kind"! This is very apparent at our dog park too, and at Beau's birthday parties. They are like one big happy family!
Duff's best buddy is his older doodle brother, but I can't help wondering if their excitement around other doodles is based on our excitement at seeing them. i know I perk up when I see one, and often blurt out "doodle!" I know I'm a nerd.
