I am confused about my Cooper.  He gets excited when I suggest we go for a walk.   We put get out his leash and Gentle Leader and he does very well in front of our house and for two houses down the block, then he stops.   Dead in his tracks and refuses to go further!    It is like there is a line drawn on the sidewalk and he can't cross it.   We have become the laughing stock of the the neighborhood.   Here  comes Cooper,  All ready to walk, then he stops, sits down, lays down and won't go any further.   I toss a treat, try to encourage him in every way I can think of.   He just seems like he is done.  But the weird thing is, he turns around and walks home just fine.   He did well in puppy classes and does well on the leash.   Do you think he is just feeling out of his comfort zone?  Or do you think it is because there is another puppy living at the house where he stops and he wants to see that puppy?   Even if I let him visit with JJ, the other puppy, he won't walk much further.   Strange, isn't it?   I even took a video last week to show my trainer to see if she can give me some advice.   I just wondered if anyone else had a Doodle that didn't like to walk.

Great news. Thank you for the update - I really appreciate when people let us know outcomes.
So I just got my puppy a week ago. He is having the same problem that he won't go further from the house than the next door neighbor. Butters also seems to be very timid. When my husband and I both walk him and give him treats along the way when he keeps up, he is good. When either of us try by ourselves, he flatly refuses to go. It gives me hope that your dog grew out of it, because when even treats won'[t motivate a dog, what are you to do?
What an adorable puppy! I am sure he will outgrow this. My Cooper did. It just took a few months for him to mature and build up his confidence. Then he started making some "friends" along the way and actually looks forward to our walks! One thing that helped a lot was walking with our neighbor's dog that is a couple of months older, but I wouldn't do that if your puppy isn't fully immunized. We have to be careful with how much they are exposed to until they have all of their shots.
Thank you. That helps a lot to know. It's not as discouraging to know that it's a puppy thing.
