To Ban or Not to Ban Pit Bulls?

How do you feel about Pit Bulls...while the topic has come up before, I wanted everyone to read this article by well known author, Malcolm Gladwell:

I agree with your trainer Adina. I believe that there are very few people who can properly handle, train and control a pit bull or some of the other bully breeds.  Which would explain why many people who are injured or killed by Pits are their own family members. Have you seen this site? If the statistics are accurate and I haven't found a reason to think they are not, then the trend is pretty darn disturbing.  Check out the page on Pit bull myths. I've heard pretty much all of them at one time or another...

I DISAGREE !   it Has been My experience that its not the breed, its the OWNER that is the problem. I think it is an elitist  attitude to ban the Breed.  

That being said I do agree with Denise it is a "stero-typical" people that are drawn to the breed. 

The wrong dog with the very wrong people, the Question is: how to regulate that ?  the same as weapons .. Background check?  References ? People should go thru the same procedure as getting an AK-47.

 So, we all know its Impossible to ban a breed,  however can communities say "NO PIT BULLS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD" is that even legal ? any Lawyers out there?
