Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have had our 10 week old goldendoodle for two weeks and I think he would really like the brushing but whenever he sees the brush or comb come out, he goes crazy trying to play with them (chewing).  He does this with any new toy, person etc. so I'm not sure what to do.  Anyone else go through this?

Thanks!!

Everyone goes through this! :-) Your puppy is acting like a puppy. Give your boy a bully stick or nylabone or Kong with a little bit of peanut butter to chew on when you first start to brush/comb him. With babies, I start out with a pin brush so it is easier on the baby's skin and brush for just a few minutes at a time. Don't fuss at him or make it any kind of a negative experience. He will learn to like brushing. Remember puppies explore with their mouths and they try and make a game of everything.

Yep! Same advice from me :)

I just saw this video on FaceBook and thought of your post... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xugE8cHgpXg&index=12&list=P...

Hope it helps.

Thanks for the replies!  Great, I will try giving him something to keep him occupied.  The video was great too, thanks!

Try putting him on a table or the bathroom counter to brush him, it usually works better than trying to do it anywhere else. My boy is 6 years old and is still uncooperative anywhere but on a table. :>)
