Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I want to buy a nice brush for my almost 9 month old goldendoodle. It is time. We have been using a cheapie pin brush from Petco and while it does the job it just doesn't seem to be working perfectly. I am not really interested in the LP brushes becasue of all the mix reviews I keep finding and the fact that Sam hates the Safari slicker brush I already have. I do have a metal comb which I use, but it is not his favorite either. Sam has a fleece coat, but still puppy coat like and we are losing that now, I think! I brush him everyday and he usually lets me do what I need to do. I do like to keep his coat on the longer side, but will keep him short in the summer.

I also keep finding mats under his ears and armpits. I don't have anything to get them out and usually end up cutting them out, which he hates.

My first question, which Chris Christensen brush do people use and like?

And, what products do you all use to get rid mats?

Thank you!

I use the 16mm T pin brush. LOVE IT.  My dogs don't have thick coats though...it's like a regular pin brush but the pins are much gentler.

I'm seconding the same 16mm T-brush, it is definitely better than the pin brush I was using before. It kind of doubles as a comb and brush, as long as the coat is not too long and any of the tangles that are present are lightweight. Otherwise, I use combs first and then the CC T-brush.

I took a lot of my cues from here:

I also just posted a few questions on rake vs slickers, so I'm still learning this stuff and consider my opinion as such!
