Just wondering if doodles need to be groomed in the summer due to the heat???
I love her fur and I rather not,but do they get ovetheated????
Abby is almost a year old.
Abby is adorable. Based on where you live it gets pretty hot and humid...right? I live in San Diego, California where we have much milder weather in the summer. Personally, my Gracie Doodle gets very hot and we keep her shorter in the summer. She even gets hot in the winter but I too love the beautiful coat they have. Gracie seeks out hardwood floors, cool cement in the shade and tile floors. If you get Abby groomed be very sure they have a picture and understand exactly what you want done to her. Otherwise, you might come home with a shaved Poodle!!! You want to keep her feet rounded with fur, snout shaggy but trimmed and some "fluff" on the bridge of the nose between the eyes. At least that is the way I see a Goldendoodle looking, though I see many pictures on this site where they have shaved around the eyes and the bridge of the nose. It really comes down to personal preference. We do a mini-sanitary so there is no bare skin on the inside of the back legs, feet rounded so we don't see knuckles or toe definition and we keep the face and ears shorter and trimmed but still puffy and shaggy...if that makes any sense. For the first grooming you are better off being conservative and having them just trim a little so you can see how you like it. Good luck!
Hi, I have a 6 month old golden doodle as well and live up in high desert so feel I need to help Monk be more comfortable as well this summer. Nancie, your information is very helpful.. Thank you.
