Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

So we are expecting to get our puppy at the end of next month.  This will be our first puppy that we have had to get groomed.  Before this we has Shar Pei's that didn't require any grooming.  So I am all new to this.  I was wondering if there is a video or instructions with pictures on how to go about doing the brushing/combing and the clips around the eyes and the nails on the puppys and then adult dogs.  I would like to try it but since I am brand new at this I do not want to hurt the puppy either.

Thanks!!

Hi Laura - I have NO suggestions for you. Just wanted to say that I am in the same boat as you are. I have 4 wirehaired dachshunds, so am used to hand stripping their coat, but am new to the doodle world. Looks like our boy Casey will have a medium wavy coat (honestly - I'm not totally sure what they even means! :)  I am looking forward to grooming him myself, but don't want to hurt him and really want him to look like the handsome guy that he is. I just don't want to "botch" the job. I know that his coat will grow back if I mess him up a bit - but would sure rather not do this.

I have called several grooming places in my area and none of them have any experience with doodles.  I know that there are several videos on YouTube that I've watched and am looking for a good step-by-step book.

Good luck to both of us - and our doodles!!!

this ALD breeder has very good videos -
