I was so excited today I was going to use my CC 16mm T brush that arrived yesterday and my new tiny mat cutter when I needed it....... well its been snowing and wet- which means buckets of water to clean paws- and well I have not been up on my grooming in the past couple weeks as much as I needed too. The body was great the brush was wonderful then it all went bad. I hit the legs and (mind you he has.. ohps ....had a super long coat) I started on the mat around the ankle and was thinking I really like this Andis mat cutter tool its nice and short so its easier to use then the big long one that I have. I was thinking I could see how it could thin the coat to much like was posted here but all was going well. I picked up the next leg and BAM, bad mom alert I could feel it a mat that was not to tight but it was half the way up his leg. I started working on it, he was not happy and I knew that it was hurting him so I decided I would just shave it so what if that leg looked funny it was better than hurting him. So out came the clippers and the grooming table. I started clipping it and then they were just appearing out of nowhere! Small dime size mats here and there so I opted to shave him down. I am not the well loved mom in this house by 2 or 4 legged creatures. 3 hours later I have a very skinny awkward looking 12 month old doodle. I had my son rinse him off as I was cleaning up and well he is very short, probably 1/2 inch all over his body but I left his tail and head. Should I mention its 19 degrees out today? I sent him outside in a horse blanket styled coat and it did not faze him.
So now to get rid of that puppy coat since he is this short what should I do? Its to short to comb Just wait a few weeks then take that cc 16mm T brush through it? It just slides through the poodle comb or should I try the Les Pooch? I only have the Blue one but I do have a single purple MGT brush. would that work?
I am hoping that if I get the puppy coat out I will have less matting and less shedding as he is shedding up a storm right now. He has a very fleece/wool coat
Any ideas? Thank you

If you shaved him, you shaved off whatever was there including puppy and/or adult coat. If he is really short you don't have to brush him at all except to keep him used to being brushed. And, while he is short it doesn't matter what you brush him with, except your LesPoochs blue is probably too firm to be comfortable. MGT is fine - just be gentle. As he grows out, just keep on top of the brushing and combing. If he is shedding, he probably will continue to shed.
Thank you I was worried about trying to get that puppy coat out. He is about 1/2 inch right now.
Both of my doodles are rescues and I was thinking that non shedding would be a bonus having had German Shedders. I think these guys even shed more than my GSD's just a thinner fur.
