Almost immediately after grooming and bathing at the groomer and after brushing between baths Savannah's ears look oil and stringy.  Anyone else have this issue?  How do you keep them looking fluffy and clean?  Underneath, of course at the ear canal, I understand that, I keep her ears plucked...although she hates having it done, but this is on the outside of her ears.  Any suggestions???

Does she get her ears in her food or water bowl? Neither of my doodles get oily ears, but Clancy's coat type makes his ears look a bit stringy between grooms.

No not in her food or water bowl.   I guess stringy is a better term.  However,  I have been grooming this weekend.  I have to take "breaks"  and so does Savannah...LOL...  But I brushed her ears yesterday evening and they are already stringy.  I didn't bathe her, but it does the same when she has been to the groomer and had a bath.  I was just wondering it stringy looking ears was just a doodle thing.  She was 2 July 29th    They always been that way, just wondering if there was a remedy....

You say look oily, but does it feel oily when you touch them?  Asta has a wavy coat and his ears are mostly straight with a very loose wave.  His groomer does a blow dry which gives his coat (ears included) a fluffy look.  It doesn't last.

No it isn't oily.  I think previous poster summed it up better than me.  Stringy....and no they don't get in her water bowl.  They are that way within 24 or so hours with our without a bath after being brushed.    She is 2 and they have always been that way...I was just wondering if there was a solution or if it's just "Doodle Life"....

Post pics so we can see what you mean.  Are Savannah's ears like this?  Clancy's look messy most of the time.

Well on mobile can't attach photo. But, yes pretty much like Clancys. I think I just notice more on a chocolate. I line brushed them today and they were nice looking for maybe an hour I'll post the photo tomorrow. And be warned its just an ear. She would not "pose". Grooming today wore us both out.
Josie's ears do the same thing. I would even say that they are oily and stringy. I even double shampoo them when I give her a bath, but within 2 days they start getting stringy again. I had tried a foaming shampoo that you rub in the fur, but it didn't help.

It is probably just the way the coat is then. Clancy's only looks really nice right after a professional groom.
