Hi all.  Just got Pippin back from the groomers.  Someone new who owns a doodle and who did a scissor cut.  She spent a good while with me too showing me all the mats that I didn't realize were mats so I know what to look for now!  Thought I'd post a couple of before and after pics.  Pippin's coat was about 5 inches long before the groom and I had him cut back to 2 inches.  We get out to the beach and other watery/sandy places a lot and cleaning him up afterwards is a real pain!

I think I like the short version better!  What do you think?

I think dog's eyes are just as expressive as people's.  I'm planning on getting him groomed regularly now (last full groom was July when he was blowing his puppy coat).  I was really surprised by how much matting he had down by his skin.  It will be much easier to keep on top of it now.

I think you will find that the shorter hair is easier for you.  Pippin is darling, short or long hair.

Thanks Lynda.  Your 2 look gorgeous and so much fun.  Just took a look at your page.  Pip is F1b like Groucho.  He has such a mixed coat, really wooly along his spine and then more fleece on his flanks.  He just had a small wooly patch by his tail as a pup that has expanded.  What is Groucho's coat like?  Did the texture change much?

Groucho's coat is really perfect.  He does not mat and is very easy care.  We trim him ourselves and he has a haircut about 3 times a year.  He has a face trim a little more frequently and trimming between his toes.  He is a delight to scratch each morning as we have our coffee in bed.  At almost 6 years old, he is the perfect companion.  However, Harpo is something else all together.  I am planning to cord him as he has a great coat for cording.  But that is more trouble than you can imagine.  Harpo is also younger and has youthful enthusiasm.  Love the F1b, but Groucho is really a large dog.  I think I will go with smaller dogs in the future.

I love his new hair cut.  He looks so much more "balanced".  The other picture he was hiding behind all thick hair and you couldn't distinguish he lines much.  He looks great!!!  And I bet he loves it too!

Yup, he's been struttin his stuff this afternoon!  I always think Gracie looks great.  You do such a nice job with her.  I think I'll keep Pippin shorter.  He feels like velvet and is more distinguished.

He does look like Halas.  Just saw your video of Halas and the himalayan chew.  Made me laugh.  Pippin does a similar thing when he wants something and is just too lazy to go get it.  Very funny.
