My doodle is a year and a half and most of the time very happy and meets and greets all people. But whenever I take him to daycare, he goes down and turns over to show his belly. This is the only place I've seen that behaviour. Any ideas why?
This is a submissive behavior so I'd guess that there are dogs or people that intimidate him, at least a bit, at daycare. Possibly it could be just the numbers of people or dogs that intimidate him initially. I'd say this is your dogs way of saying "Hey, see I'm no threat so be nice to me."
I agree. Gracie is a very confident and friendly Doodle. She is definitely not an Alpha dog. When she comes into a situation where there are a lot of new dogs she will go down and turn over. She will also do this when it is a rather agressive or bold dog. I think she just wants them to sniff her and know that she is kind and friendly.
