Jordan is 24 inches and weighs 72p, she is 3y. (I know she needs to lose some weight.) Last year she was 66p. My Vet told me than she should lose 7p. I was shocked when she weighed 6 more pounds. I really thought she had lost some. She really does not look "fat". She still has the tuck at the rear, but she has some extra love'n in her doodle butt.
I am just wondering if any one here knows how much she should weigh?

Who knows how much doodles should weigh, my breeder thought mine would turn out to be about 60 lbs. and he is 92 lbs. and almost 3 years old. Obviously mine turned out a log bigger than anyone guessed, but my first clue should have been his big feet! My doodle is tall and lean when he is wet like a poodle, but his fur is pretty fluffy so we figure he has big fur. Welcome to the F-1's!
Cute stories lol

I was told to take the weight when they are 4 mos old, multiply that by 2 and add 10 lbs, that should be the weight it will be full grown.

My Sadie is just 4 1/2 mos old and weighed 31.5 lbs, so using that method I plan on her being between 60 - 70 lbs when grown. Do you know what the parents looked like? That may help. Sadie's mother was a taller, lean lab and her father a 25 ins std poodle so I'm thinking she will be about 25 ins high.
Oh Thank you,
Sire was a normal Lab size maybe 70ps. Bitch was maybe 60ps. Jordan has a Lab body with Poodle legs. Her face is all Lab.
So I just checked and she should weigh about 60ps.
Jordan is a beauty... I know better than to 'just go look at puppies' lol I know one is coming home if I do.
I know!
It is also why I have 3 cats too. My Vet knows I am a sucker for a fuzzy face. I will walk in and they will say We have kittens... now I wont go look.
when you speak of hight, you mean to the shoulder, correct ?

Yes, top of the withers. Here's a good guide: http://www.lgd.org/library/measure.htm

And I'm amazed that you found this 7 year old discussion!

I don't know if there's a one-size-fits-all answer for your question; the best way of telling would be to look at your dog and see if she has extra "handles" here and there. If not, she's probably not overweight!
My Fergie is a standard F1 goldendoodle and at 8 months weighs 45 lbs. She's 21" tall - Ver nice size. But i see that some minatures are this big also. I guess i just got lucky - this is what size I wanted.
I have an FI GD who has a 9 lb poodle father - and is now 43 lbs and 21 inches high at the shoulder. Bigger than we thought he would be, but more of him to love!
I had Sadie spayed at just over 6 mos and she weighed 53 lbs and she is about 22-23 ins high at the shoulder. I have a hard time measuring her because she won't stand still when I put the yardstick next to her. I thought that was a little heavy and asked the vet and they said she looked fine so I'm thinking she will hit that 60-70 lbs at a year old.
I have recently read several posts on various websites which say that the F1's (both GDs & LDs) commonly end up being bigger than either parent. A lot of the dogs here on DK seem to bear this out. It does make some genetic sense, as height is always dominant in every species & breed. And of course, males are always going to end up taller & heavier than females of the same breed, and reach full growth at a slightly later age. The formulas don't really take that into account.
Height is entirely genetic; weight is another matter. Labs are more heavily muscled than standard poodles, the English labs being more compact in stature, i.e. shorter overall, shorter necks & legs, deeper chests. The American labs are "rangier" in build. I have more experience with English labs than American, and they almost always weigh considerably more than you would think by looking at them. Standard poodles, I know very well, but with these mixes, I honestly don't think anybody could predict their adult size accurately; there are just too many variables. I rely on the vet and my own eyesight and "feel" to know if a dog is overweight. Most vets are pretty good about telling you if a dog is overweight. Bottom line, the F1 standards are all going to be relatively big, active dogs. And they are all wonderful!
