One of my favorite fetch toys, especially for in-house use, is this ball from Life is Good. It's a little pricey for a ball, but it is by far Tyson's favorite ball to play with. And it is surprisngly strong! Tyson is a BIG chewer, so when I first tried the ball out at a Life is Good store in Lake Placid, I thought for sure Ty would destroy it in no time because it does not feel sturdy at all. Imagine my surprise to still have that ball almost a year later and it is no worse for the wear! Even though Ty sometimes likes to chomp on it (I think he likes the feeling of it squishing in his mouth!), it has not shown any signs of wear and tear, so we really love it.
I'm going to look into those balls, thanks for the link. Jack is the bell retrieving champion of the Western world, it's all he wants to do 24/7, and he is not allowed to have tennis balls indoors...they bounce too high & hard, and can easily break things in their paths.
We have been using the soft balls pictured below. It's also a self-storing toy. The whole thing is machine washable and colorfast.
This will not be good for those whose dogs are big chewers or toy destroyers, but if you just need a soft ball that you can use for playing fetch indoors without worrying about bouncing & breaking things or leaving marks on walls & floors, this has been a great toy for Jack:
that's so funny, Tyson is the same way--he could literally play fetch all day and never get bored of it!! Your concerns about damage in the house are exactly why I use the Life is Good ball, because it doesn't leave marks, and won't break stuff easily. His other fetch toys are fine for outside but when we have, on occassion, used some of them inside, they have marked the wall or put little dents in it (my husband throws them way too hard, I think!). And I love how durable the ball is, because Tyson definitely likes to gnaw/chew on all his toys, and this allows him to get a few chomps in while he is bringing the ball back and it hasn't suffered any damage yet.
I have seen the one you mention but didn't know it stored the balls; that is a nice feature. It looks neat, and it's a bonus that it doesn't bounce (the Life is Good ball does bounce some, so it might not be good in some cases, but we throw it up and down our hall/stairs so there's usually not much we have to worry about and the ball is really light so it can't damage any of the stuff we have out in those areas). I don't think it would work for us though because I think Tyson would make it his mission to destroy it--crazy dog!
