Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
Hello all,
I just read the post about snow and the pain it causes for our doodles. I need some advice on what to get to protect our baby from the elements. What do you all use and where did you get it/them? Thanks so much! Cary (Zakie's Mother)
We were sorry to miss the romp on Sunday; but that was the best time for getting our tree.

Hi Carey, we have a bit of a discussion on the topic here in the GRAD group. Go to OUR main page, scroll to the bottom, and try pages 9 and 10. Hopefully we'll also see some pics soon on the main Doodlekisses slide show as it's an upcoming topic. Measurement is CRITICAL if you buy boots (as they fall off very easily if you don't follow manufacturer's instructions). I think "word of mouth" is not the cheapest, but the best advice in the long run. There are so many brands that "look" good in the store or pics, but don't work very well (fall off).
If your baby has a "short" haircut, it's not as bad, but the longer soft hair absorbs all the snow -- especially on the tummy, legs, and feet.
Pictures tells it all.... Go to the Doodlekisses MAIN page and SEARCH (upper right-hand corner) for "snow boots". There are several discussions with pics that show exactly how the snow "latches" on to the hair (and the snow in Virginia doesn't just fall off -- turns to ice balls! ). You can put them in a warm tub of water (or bucket one leg at a time), but the mess gets old pretty quick... Hopefully we'll just have lots of "light" snow days this year....
Hope this helps.
