Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum
My doodle is just under 1 year old and we're starting to think about formal obedience class for him. I eventually want him to get his CGC and Therapy dog inc. certifications. Up until now, I have trained him at home and he does really well, I think we just need to sharpen his skills. He can sit, lay down, shake with right paw, left paw, leave it, come here and stay. He also knows other commands like get in your crate, off (when he jumps), get down (like if he gets on the sofa) and other day-to-day commands I tell him. I'm not too interested if they have a TDI class or tester as I'm moving out of state in a little less than 2 months, but wanted to get his basic commands mastered!
Does anyone have any suggestions on classes in the Richmond, VA area? Also, what kind of "level" would he start at since he has had no formal training, but knows quite a bit?!

Sounds like you did a great job! He can be tested for his CGC now so you can see what else you'd need to work on, and then you're well on your way to TDI testing. As long as he's as reliable in public as he is at home, he'll do great!
I know of the classes at Dude Ranch Pet Resort and All Dogs Adventures. Either place will have you well prepared!
Good luck and thank you for training young. :)
I'm more worried about him being not as reliable without treats than anything. This guy loves to EAT!
Hi Whitney,
The best thing to do would be to have a consult to see what level your dood is at - where he needs polishing. I teach both CGC and Therapy prep, as well as obedience/manners for 12wks-Adult, Beginners and Intermediate.
If you'd like to talk in more depth, please give me a call or message me. I've worked with a lot of doodles including my own two boys and love and understand the breed.
All the best,
Deborah

Good Morning,
I second the recommendation for Deborah Moore's classes at Siriusly Canine. We are getting ready to test for CGC and then when Vienne is one, we will try for our TDI. Good Luck.

I third the recommendation to see Deb at Siriously Canine!! Love her.
