Good News - Brewster seems to be doing well on the meds for treating Giardia - his stools are firming up. Finally.

Bad News - He broke one of his canines last night! Broke in half horizontally AND vertically! Bled for a bit onto his beard and the pulp/nerve is showing! :( I have no idea how he did it. I was upstairs, then came down and noticed the blood. Hubby was downstairs with him and never noticed a thing - no whining, not the bleeding, he did not even notice if he was chewing on something beforehand!

The only thing I can think of is that he either broke it on his bone (the hard beef-type with the hole in the middle where the marrow was) or he slipped on the laminate kitchen floor and hit his face/teeth on the cabinets, table, or the floor itself.

My poor baby cannot catch a break! The only good thing is that it has not affected his appetite or demeanor and he does not seem to be in any pain (though I'm not sure how....it sure LOOKS painful!)

At his last vet appt., I was told that those were his adult teeth, so it will most likely need to be pulled so it does not get infected. And he will be missing that main front tooth for good. :( :( :( I'm so bummed. I'm taking him in tomorrow. My poor baby....

Oh, and I looked and looked but never did find the broken part...
Let us know how he is doing after his vet appt.
That poor baby!!
Poor Brewster! I hope the vet visit goes well, and this will be the end of his bad luck!
Oh No Hope the vet goes well. Keep us post. Maybe try to call the vet. There could be any cancelation.
Awwww... so sorry to hear!!!
Ok, just got back from the vet with GOOD news! Apparently the last vet made a mistake in saying those were adult teeth, or more likely, I just mis-understood. :) They are in fact baby teeth and he can have the broken one pulled when he gets neutered next month. She said the chance of infection between now and then is low, and it's better just to do it all at once. She is also hopeful that there will not be any damage to the adult tooth underneath, though we'll just have to wait and see.

Whew! I'm SO relieved that it's just his baby tooth and he won't be maimed for life! Yay! Now, if the giardia will just go away for good, we'll be all set! LOL
Thanks for all the well wishes!
Great news!
I am so glad to hear about the tooth. You know since it is a baby tooth, the remaining part might fall out before you go in for the neutering. That would save some money. :)
Yes, I thought of that. :) I hope it does fall out. It might save him some pain, too.
