I just discovered Lilly (6 yrs) has an aural hematoma. I searched for posts here, but nothing in the past few years. Lilly had a hematoma about 1 year ago, the vet drained it and all was good until tonight. I'm not sure the cause makes any difference, but my guess is, it has something to do with pollen and allergies.
What we've read tonight, many times the vet with want to do surgery. Can anyone share their experiences with this? surgery? or draining?

I have no experience with aural hematomas, but I can tell you it really has nothing to do with allergies.
It is related to chronic ear infections, and the associated ear scratching and head shaking. Dogs whose allergy symptoms include frequent ear infections would be more prone to the condition, but with allergies, you would be seeing many, many other symptoms. Most ear infections in Poodles and Poodle mixes are NOT caused by allergies.
From what I've read, the surgery is your best option to keep this from happening again.
