How often would you recommend to deworm and what product would you recommend.

I use Heartgard Plus, and I have for years. It contains pyrantel which is used to kill intestinal worms. It's a relatively safe product that has been around for a very long time. My dog does have GI issues, and he has never had a reaction to the Heartgard.

I do give the Heartgard year round. I don't give the flea preventatives (I use Frontline) in the winter, but I do give the Heartgard.

On another note, a vet who works with a parasitologist spoke at a kennel club meeting I attended 3-4 years ago and he recommended that all people who go out into nature with their dog use an annual dewormer.  Here where I live, there's no heartworm so I thought that was interesting.
