Hi! My 11 month old doodle has had off and on explosive diarrhea since december. The vet did the parasite test many times and never found anything significant. She has also done blood work and had some test for her pancreas.... we still do not know whats wrong. She has been on metrozidizole 5 times and possibly another antibiotic also. They aslo gave her a de wormer as a precation. As of tonight she is on tylosin but it is the powder form and hard to get her to eat. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! p.s.- Im losing my mind not knowing whats wrong with her!

Yay!! Best of luck..will be thinking of you guys, and waiting for a positive update!

I am so sorry to hear of your problems with your doodle. Sounds familiar! Please listen to Karens advice and start feeding something other than the vet suggested RX food.
Yes Janice, she now eats natural balance LID and loves it. She also gets the probiotic proviable once a day.
That is what my guy is on also! Sweet potato and fish.......not sure I love the fishy kisses, but a small price to pay for our piece of mind I am sure you will agree. How much does your doodle weigh? And how much are you feeding......we are finding the "output" quite substantial :-) Best regards
Yes I have been really happy with this food also, Heidi even does a little dance before she eats haha. Heidi eats the duck and potato formula. She weighs 47 lbs...a few moths ago she weighed right at 50 lbs when she was 10 months. I am feeding her 1.5 cups of it 2x a day... I was feeding her 1 cup but she seemed so hungry and she is on the thin side. I don't think too thin though. What does your doodleweigh and eat? Also, what GI problems does your doodle have?

The Natural Balance LID foods are very low in calories, you generally need to feed more than you would of many other foods. The feeding guidelines for the food your dog is eating are 2.5 to 3.5 cups per day for a 40-60 lb adult dog, and quite a bit more for puppies who are still growing.

Just weighed him at the vets today. 9 mths 1week and 29.8lbs. He is meant to be a small/medium doodle....maybe maxing out at 35lbs. I am feeding about 11/4 cups morning with probiotics, and salmon oil. Also adding 1 egg scrambled with his morning meal for a little more protein. 30 sec in microwave and then cooled....his favorite :-) I have in the past changed " it up" in the evening with the Natural Balance canned food. A small amount (couple of teaspoons) so I only buy the small cans.
Problem? Hmmm,, just wish I could give it a name.....SIBO has been mentioned, but only after I asked if that or EPI could be his problem. Hoping with the knowledge I am gaining here from Karen and others I can get a grip on this and we can relax a little. I feel so make better having people validating my concerns instead of shrugging their shoulders and telling me it is a mystery, but to plug away with meds and RX's foods. Fingers crossed you have a solution for Heidi that continues to work :-)
I feed Heidi 3 cups a day now and she just turned 1. I will weigh her Thursday when she goes to doggie daycare and hopefully she has gained a pound or 2 but she seems be an ok weight right now but it's getting hard to tell under all her fluff.
