Heidi has 2 hot spots and has a topical spray, a pill, and a ointment for conjuctivitus in her eye. She got her cone today and its been 4 hrs and she still will not move. Will not sit down or anything just stands there very depressed. What to do? At this point I think I need to take it off when I can keep a close eye on her. Thank you!

The one I have is like a big inner tube around the neck, I don't think they could get at their paws with that one. I don't know if it's still sold, though.

I finally purchased an inflatable e collar when the new puppy got spayed. Not that expensive. Definitely worth it. Looks like a life preserver, even have a photo of her on a beach towel.

lol, yeah every time she wears it I just laugh and ask her if she's ready to go swimming.

Luca had the regular collar briefly. He knocked into something with it and stood like a statue. I then took it off and only used when I had to leave and he was in his crate.

If things don't improve soon I may have to try this... waiting to see how this new inflatable one is going to work.

Pepcid and Zantac are not anti-nausea agents. Although they have minimal effect on cephalexin I think you always need to be careful re: drug interactions. The most common side effects from antibiotics is diarrhea best combated by a probiotic such as Proviable a couple of hours away from the antibiotic administation. I have also used ammonium if needed.

I know they aren't anti-nauseants, but that's the advice I've been given by two of JD's specialists whenever he is on Cephalexin. It nauseates him terribly, and he's not alone in that. The Zantac has worked beautifully to prevent him from vomiting when he takes the antibiotics. I wouldn't have suggested it or recommended it if I hadn't gotten the information from reliable veterinary sources.

Thanks for the reminder on the probiotics, I forgot those. Be sure not to give them within two hours of the antibiotics.

F, did you mean Imodium?

I don't know who this vet is, but she is also recommending Zantac to prevent nausea in a dog taking cephalexin: http://www.justanswer.com/dog-health/2ig66-dog-just-started-taking-...

Interesting, they really are acid reducing agents but I guess they work if enough vets and you have seen good results.
Oh yes, Imodium, not ammonium, thanks Karen.

Oh dear not diarrhea!! Oh Heidi...SHe had horrible stomach issues about 8 months ago and it was an ongoing thing for maybe 5 months.. I cant deal with all this. I pray she will not have stomach issues wit this cephalexin. She used to take proviable for her tummy issues.
