Breathing a big sigh of relief here. Finn had a funny growth on his shoulder. At first I thought it was a thorn, then I thought the groomer had nicked him. It formed a scab at the end, but continued to grow like a tiny little…horn (?). But as I was going over him to see if there were anymore, I found a hard lump next to his spine. That terrified me, so off to the vet. They gave him a local anesthetic and removed the growth with one of those punches and gave him a stitch. Then they removed material from the lump with a needle and biopsied it. What a good boy Finn was, as he stood quietly for both procedures. He shook like crazy in the waiting room but was a real stoic for the procedure. The biopsies came back negative, although they will keep an eye on the lump/cyst. Finn broke the stitch open by dinnertime, so back to the vet for another cleaning and stitch :(

Oh, I am so glad he is okay. Keep healing Finn. Your mom loves you and so do we!
Thanks DJ. It was a big relief and he's back to his happy self.
Thanks F. Isn't that the truth! Before joining DK, I would have just assumed he had a common cyst :)
Thanks Bonnie. There certainly is a long list of different types of lumps and bumps.
I know! We had a Golden that was super lumpy and Kona has several different kinds, too. Hoping you and Finn are resting today.
We are, happily :) Interesting to know, thanks for sharing that. I'm not sure they got all the horn material (I was going to say horny but someone would have a field day with that :) but I guess we'll know when we go back for the check up. That was the weirdest thing.
Very glad the biopsies were negative! Finn is such a good stoic boy, much like JD!
Thanks Karen. Yes, I think JD and FInn would understand each other quite well!
I'm so happy to hear that the biopsy was negative. He's such a good brave boy!
Thanks Jane. I couldn't bear to post this until we got the biopsy results. I'd like to think he was brave. but truthfully, I had him in a bear hug so he probably thought he was taking care of me :) Still brave!
