I thought I saw a lot on here about GD's and allergies, but now that I need it I can't find it!

Dahlia, my 6.5 month old F1b just developed a swollen eyelid this evening, out of the blue and then started running from room to room only stopping to scratch herself. She was also rubbing her face. I called the vet and he suggested I get her some Benedryl, which I did. But then I started putting together some weird stuff from the past few days or so. First thing, she had pudding poop TWICE at 3:30am and 4:30am this morning. Granted I did give her (probably a little too much) pureed pumpkin the night before because I felt like she was having tummy trouble. I thought she was having tummy trouble because she threw up in the car in the morning (she isn't great at riding in the car as it is, but she typically doesn't vomit) and then didn't eat all day and just napped. I've experienced Giardia with her twice now, and I'm pretty positive that is not it. The girls at her day care thought maybe she was overtired or stressed, they didn't seem concerned with her pudding poop too much.

Does this sound like a food allergy? Or just an outdoor allergy? Any ideas? Advice?

Thank you!

Could she have been stung by a bee?  One of our dogs was & his eyelid was really swollen.

It's entirely possible, I guess I was just hoping to roll all the oddities into one :)

It does sound like a bite of some kind to me too.

It doesn't sound like allergies at all. none of these things are common symptoms of any type of allergy in dogs.

Like the others, my first thought when I read about the eye & the running was a bug bite or bee sting.

The vomiting, loss of appetite, and lethargy are also not typical signs of food allergies, but she may have picked up a virus of some kind, maybe at day care.

If any of this continues, I would see the vet.

Bee sting?????

Sooo...about 30 minutes after I gave her Benadryl the poor thing started bouncing off the walls! She was running through rooms, laying down for a few seconds, then ran down the stairs, stopped on the landing and dug at the carpet, then proceeded this pattern all over the house basically all night long. Not exactly the reaction I expected to Benadryl, has anyone ever had this reaction??

The swelling is gone today, but she is still itchy so I'm going to take her to the vet and see what I can do to help her. She has been eating and pooping normally too. I still want to bring that to the vets attention, but it's not as worrisome now.

Paradoxical reactions to Benadryl, like excitation, do occur. Another antihistamine might not do this for future reference.

Based on some recent medical issues that Charlotte has been experiencing, I'm wondering if Dahlia could have been bitten by a spider or an insect. Last week, my little girl became very itchy and spent a few days scratching. She had never done this before, so we thought that she was starting to develop an allergy to something. I gave her Zyrtec, as I had read that it tends to provide better relief than Benedryl. She seemed to be getting some relief, as the scratching subsided. Then, though, she developed pretty serious digestive issues and tested positive for pancreatitis on the vet's in-house SNAP test. Yesterday, our vet began to think that Charlotte's pancreatitis could have been brought on by a spider bite, since all of the other typical causes don't seem to fit. I hope that Dahlia feels better soon.

She just started having diarrhea yesterday after having 3 really healthy poops. I'm wondering if it might be something bite related like you said or if it's the Orijen puppy food I started her on Monday. Ugh...
