Last night I found two small raised lumps.  One that had obviously been licked and was slightly damp and red though no infection.  They are under Riley's right elbow and about half an inch apart.  They were not there the day before at least not palpable as I groom and touch him all over each day.   He is not scratching them (at least when I can observe him).  They appear to feel hardish and not soft.  I am wondering if these are bites or possibly hot spots.  I will take him to the Vet tomorrow or later today when I am home from work but am a little concerned.  Any thoughts welcome.

Update.  I took Riley to the vet  and they were bites, as no infection we used the cream he gave us and a week later they are completely gone.  Thanks for all your input.  It's great to know that I can come here with any worries.

Hi Nicky...

The very first thing that I want to say is this...

Isn't it Wonderful that we are All so in tuned with our Doodles...groomiing them...touching and petting them daily (all of the time in many cases...smile)  that we usually notice every lump and bump and scratch when it comes up?

We All try to be such good Doodle Mom's...and I think you are a Great one!

The bumps are most likely nothing to worry about...maybe a bug bite like you say.

Just two red bumps...not palpable...that just showed up today.

I do think going to the Vet is a good idea.

Sometimes you don't know when to "wait and watch" or just go in and get an opinion.

I am a "watch and wait"...but not for a long time...and it really does depend on what the issue is.

It can "never" hurt to go to your Vet for an opinion.  They will be able to let you know exactly what it is...and if needed...possibly give you something to help relieve any itch...etc..and going will put your mind at rest.

I'll be keeping you and Riley in my thoughts and prayers today...and look forward to a good report...

Hugs to you my friend...

 Hi Nicky,

I too think it just might be a bug bite, so glad u are taking Riley to the Vet to check it out, I took Wilson in A few weeks ago for a mark by his eye, He was playing with friends and I think what happened he got scratched, and Wilson is fine

  Please let us know !

Went to the vet and it ended up that it was bug bites.  My partner scared me with a call because he was lethargic during the day which was unusual but that turned out just to be the result of the worming tablets I gave him last night which made him a little "off'.  Thank you so much for your help. I was thinking there are probably lots of people who never touch or groom their dogs and so lots of these things go un- noticed but you never know when it's going to be something more serious and I prefer the vet fees than the worry!
Glad it turned out to be nothing but bug bites.
YEAH BUG BITES!!!!

So glad that it was just a bug bite Nicky...Great News!!

Sleep well...

Nicky...bug bites in Ireland!!!!  Oh my...never would have thought you had bugs in that wonderful and beautiful country!!  ha ha  So glad that is all it was.  I am getting in to the conversation late.  I have my four grandchildren from Boston here for 10 days...ages 8 months, 3 yrs, 5 yrs and 7 years!!!!  Not much for Doodle time but Gracie Doodle loves the kids!!  Hugs to you and Riley.
Oh we have bugs alright though they don't generally cause infections just localized bumps.  Right now it is wasp season and they are everywhere. We don't have mosquitos though (thank goodness). We do have fleas and ticks they aren't choosy about which country they reside in lol
