I am planning to take pet insurance for my 13 week old puppy. He already have issues with regurgitating and vet is still trying to figure out whats causing it.If i take the insurance now will this count as pre-existing condition?

If there is any thing in the medical records before getting the insurance they can say that some things are pre-existing. I had switched companies and had that problem. Better to get on a plan before there are too many things to exclude. I am still glad I switched.

Anything that you have already been seen for at the vet and is in the records will be considered a pre-existing condition.

If this were me, once the Vet has determined what the problem is I would work with the insurance company I selected to get in writing what is going to be considered pre existing because of this notation in the file.  Just to be sure everything is clear going forward and there are no surprises down the road.

It could be considered a pre-existing condition since I assume the medical file contains a notation about the digestive issues.

When you sign up you can ask for the underwriter to look & state to you in writing whatever is preexisting and will not be covered. Then you will know up front what's excluded. Research the company beforehand because the longer you wait or if you want to switch companies the exclusion list will get longer.
