Labradoodle & Goldendoodle Forum

I have a 3 year old labradoodle that was diagnosed with Chronic Active Hepatitis last August and is now on special food, supplements and meds.  We have been through a lot with him, trips to vet school hospitals,  multiple bloodwork, ultrasounds, biopsies, exploratory surgery, etc.   He has some bad days but more good days right now.  My question is about flea and tick meds.  I know he can't use the regular stuff but what else can I use because if he feels well enough this summer I would like to take him camping with us as he loves to be outside especially with us.

In this case, I think the only one who should be advising you on this is your vet. This is not a situation where one opinion is as valid as the next. Every substance that enters the body is filtered through the liver, and in the case of a dog with liver disease, you need your vet to tell you what is safe to use on your dog.
I'm really sorry to hear that you and your doodle are going through this. I hope he continues to have good days!
I have come up with a plan with my vet to use only Sentinel and no spot of products and just monitor for ticks but was wondering if there was any other products that I may not be aware of. Thank you for your reply.
